To be the Heart of God in the world

jesusToday is our greatest feast – the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The heart of God for us is a symbol of his incredible love which we want to preach in the world. This mission seems so simple, almost trivial to some, but it is extremely necessary. So many people believe in a God who only looks out for us to fall and demands strict following of the rules. The Heart of Jesus is a place where we can find a cure for such thinking. To hear someone’s heartbeat, you have to approach him really close, even hug him trustingly. That’s how close God wants to be with us. It’s an incomprehensible mystery, but also an incredibly joyful message for us.

This year, we read in the Gospel about Jesus, who is looking for the lost sheep so long until He finds her. And then He hugs her so tight that she feels really loved. Those who allowed God to find them, know that amazing feeling very well. And that is our mission – to help others be found by God. Our Constitutions say that the answer to call of Jesus, is “to let ourselves be transformed by His Spirit so as to live united and conformed to Him, and through our love and service to radiate the very love of His Heart” Let us constantly transform the world with this radiation!

Today I am accompanied by the words of one of my favorite Eucharistic songs : “The most silent bread.” The song is a request to Jesus, which beautifully expresses the wish I have for each of us on this special day: “Transform me into Yourself, so I become bread just like You. Bless me, break me, give me to the hungry brothers. And the fragments of bread that will remain, give to those who do not believe in their hunger.” The mission of being conformed to Jesus and being a sign of His love in the world is not reserved only for us. This is a mission for anyone who wants the Kingdom of God to come right now. Let us all show with our lives, that it’s really possible!
